Note also that because the seedling is from a cross, all the plants will have slightly different flowers.
A lovely species of cockleshell orchid previously known as Encyclia fragrans. It holds a special place in history as one of the first epiphytic orchids to be successfully grown and flowered in cultivation in the late 1700s.
Small to medium-sized, it produces long-lasting flowers which are pale greenish-white with purple stripes on the lip. The fragrance is a standout - sweet and spicy.
This species grows best in intermediate to warm conditions and bright diffuse light. Water regularly when actively growing and give it a dry winter rest with cooler conditions (but don't let it dry out completely).
