Clowesia Grace Dunn ‘Live Oak’ HCC/AOS × Catasetum ivaneae ‘Purple Fantasy’

$80.00

This spectacular cross by Sunset Valley Orchids, registered as Clowesetum Somnis, combines the best traits of both parents - fragrance and frilly lips of Clowesia Grace Dunn ‘Live Oak' and the spectacular flower count and arrangement of Catasetum ivaneae. Expect well-shaped pink blooms peppered with burgundy spots on cascading spikes

Catasetums are relatively easy to grow but you need to be careful to follow their natural growth cycle.  Spring: When new growth appears, do not water until roots are well-developed. Active Growth: Once roots are established, water generously and fertilise regularly.  Autumn Dormancy: Reduce watering as leaves yellow; stop completely when leaves have fallen. Dormant Period: Water sparingly to prevent pseudobulbs from shrivelling. Repot: In Spring, just as new growths swell but before roots emerge.

They like 50-70% humidity, intermediate to warm conditions and medium light (similar to Cattleyas).

  • The photos are the flowers of the parents for reference only. The other photo is an example of the size of the plant for sale (5.5 cm pot)

  • Note also that because the seedling is from a cross, all the plants will have slightly different flowers.
